Sid Sriram Launches Warner Music India Joint Venture with Devotional Track 'Sivanar'
Washington DC [US], March 28:
Renowned singer Sid Sriram has officially launched a joint venture with Warner Music India, kicking off this collaboration with the release of ‘Sivanar’, a devotional track dedicated to Lord Murugan. The song, rooted in 14th-century Tamil literature, will be available on all major streaming platforms starting April 3, reports Variety.
Drawing inspiration from the sacred Tamil anthology ‘Thiruppugazh’ by poet Arunagirinathar, Sivanar holds a deeply personal meaning for the singer. “I think this is the first song I ever fell in love with singing,” Sriram revealed. “I heard my mother sing it, and I asked to learn it. It became one of the first portals for me to understand what surrender truly felt like.”
The devotional piece, which Sriram has performed frequently—including during his Coachella set in 2023—has long served as a spiritual anchor for the artist. “Every night, singing that piece felt like a beautiful exhale we all got to have collectively,” he shared.
The song’s accompanying music video, directed by Parasher Baruah, was filmed at Batu Caves in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia during the Thaipusam festival, which attracts over a million devotees annually. Calling the experience “humbling and magnetic,” Sriram added, “To see such deep devotion at such a scale was profoundly inspiring.”
Best known globally for his soulful rendition of ‘Srivalli’ from Pushpa: The Rise, Sriram’s decision to debut his Warner Music journey with Sivanar signals a deep-rooted connection to his cultural and spiritual heritage.
As he blends tradition with contemporary sound, this release marks not only a significant artistic milestone but also a powerful start to what promises to be a groundbreaking partnership with Warner Music India.
