April 6, 2025: Salman Khan’s latest release, Sikandar, has managed to cross the coveted ₹100 crore milestone at the global box office within a week of its release. Despite facing harsh reviews and witnessing a significant drop in footfalls after a strong opening, the film has surprised many with its international performance.

Directed by AR Murugadoss, the political-thriller-turned-masala-entertainer released on March 30 over the Eid 2025 weekend, collecting ₹26 crore on Day 1 in India. However, it couldn’t crack into Salman’s top five highest-grossing openers.

While Sikandar showed promise initially, domestic occupancy dropped by over 40%, with Day 7 earnings falling to ₹72 lakh. In stark contrast, overseas figures surged, taking the global tally past ₹150 crore, according to trade reports by Sacnilk.

Interestingly, the film is set to surpass Akshay Kumar’s Sky Force in terms of overseas box office numbers, nearing the ₹50 crore mark abroad.


👥 Audience & Critical Reception

Despite a promising trailer and high pre-release buzz, Sikandar has been criticised for its inconsistent screenplay and underwhelming performances. Viewers cited the lack of depth in storytelling and called it a wasted opportunity for a potentially powerful political drama.

The film’s IMDb rating fluctuated between 7.2 and 5.0, stabilizing at 7.5 by the end of its first Saturday.
