Despite a strong opening, AR Murugadoss’ Sikandar fails to maintain momentum, earning ₹109 crore in 15 days amid fierce competition from Jaat.
April 14, 2025: After an impressive start, Salman Khan’s much-hyped Eid release Sikandar is losing steam at the box office. The action drama, directed by Ghajini filmmaker AR Murugadoss, has seen a steep fall in its second week. As per early estimates from Sacnilk, Sikandar collected only ₹54 lakh on day 15, bringing its total collection to ₹109.04 crore.

- Opening Day: ₹26 crore
- Week 1 Total: ₹90.25 crore
- Week 2 (so far): ₹17.55 crore
- Day 15 (Second Sunday): ₹54 lakh
Despite the buzz, the film has failed to cross even the ₹1 crore mark on its second Sunday — a far cry from Salman’s blockbuster standards.
Why the Dip?
Sikandar has been facing stiff competition from Sunny Deol’s Jaat, which has shown strong growth at the box office over the weekend. Adding to that, poor word-of-mouth and mixed reviews have further dented its prospects.
An excerpt from Hindustan Times’ review reads:
“Salman still owns action scenes like a boss… but Murugadoss’ direction feels flat, making even Salman look less impactful. Rashmika Mandanna adds little to rescue the film.”
About the Film:
Sikandar marks Salman Khan’s return to the big screen after Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan and features Rashmika Mandanna in a key role. With blockbuster expectations riding high, the film’s underwhelming performance is now sparking discussions about Salman’s box office draw in the evolving post-pandemic movie landscape.
