Silence-2, recently premiered on Zee-5. Helmed by Aban Bharucha Deohans, the film stars Manoj Bajpayee as ACP Avinash Verma, Head, SCU (Special Crimes Unit). Prachi Desai, Vaquar Shaikh and Sahil Vaid also star in this thriller; though the film is anything but a thriller.
The convoluted plot narrates the story of ACP Avinash Verma, Head, SCU (Special Crimes Unit), who is tasked with finding the perpetrator of a mass shootout at Night Owl Bar, where a Senior Minister’s PA is also shot and killed.
To top it off, a decomposed body of a young girl is found in Jaipur !! Are these 2 cases related?
It is from this premise, that the film meanders through a very confusing plot of escort services, human trafficking, bachelor parties and a whole lot more. To top it off, a lot of forensic gyan in long and tiring dialogs peppers the flick throughout.
At the centre of it is also a rich but mad artist, Arjun Chauhan. He is shown as an elusive character who only a few have met. Why was that character created and how does he take the narrative forward is baffling. Not only is the character irritating, the actor has performed equally poorly.
The final reveal is unbelievable and illogical. Instead of an effective tell-all screenplay, the Director takes that easy route to explain how the team identified the killer through tedious dialogs. Also the entire climax is too long and boring.
Everyone has overacted in this whodunit, including Manoj Bajpayee. Loud reactions and overacting are the fallback of all characters.
The film is like a 90s movies with some mardhard, lots of gyan, uneven and patchy storyline and non-contextual end.
All in all, it’s a poorly directed movie with a lazy screenplay, reminiscent of B grade cinema. Totally forgettable film. Don’t watch it, unless you have nothing else to do.
