October 16, 2024: The beloved Sing franchise is gearing up for a Halloween treat with the premiere of the short film Sing: Thriller on Netflix today.
Directed by Garth Jennings, the film features a star-studded voice cast, including Matthew McConaughey as Buster Moon, Scarlett Johansson as Ash, Tori Kelly as Meena, Nick Kroll as Gunter, Taron Egerton as Johnny, and Jennings as Miss Crawly.
In Sing: Thriller, Buster and his friends prepare an elaborate performance of Michael Jackson’s iconic hit “Thriller” for a Halloween party. However, the festivities take a wild turn when a mysterious ooze transforms the partygoers into dancing creatures, adding a fun twist to the celebration. This short film pays homage to the legendary 1983 music video for “Thriller,” written by Rod Temperton, which remains a significant part of music history.
Produced by Chris Meledandri, with Dana Krupinski as the executive producer and Nathalie Vancauwenberghe as co-producer, Sing: Thriller follows the success of the original Sing film, which grossed over $600 million worldwide upon its release in 2016. While Reese Witherspoon, who voiced Rosita in previous films, will not reprise her role, the ensemble cast promises to deliver excitement and nostalgia for fans of the franchise.
