June 27, 2025: English football icon Sir David Beckham has recently undergone wrist surgery to correct a long-standing injury sustained during a friendly match against South Africa in 2023. The 50-year-old football legend had been suffering from persistent pain in his right hand, which stemmed from a fall during the match following a challenge with South African player Thabang Molefe.

Beckham initially received treatment at the time, which included the insertion of a screw meant to dissolve over time. However, a recent scan revealed that the screw had not dissolved as expected and had instead embedded itself into his forearm, causing ongoing discomfort.

According to sources close to the family, Beckham had quietly endured the pain for years before it became unbearable in recent months. “David had been in pain for years but thought nothing of it,” one source said. “A routine scan showed that the pin which was meant to have dissolved, hadn’t – so he was booked into finally resolve the issue all these years later.”

The surgery was successful, and Beckham is said to be recovering well with the support of his wife Victoria Beckham, who was by his side post-operation. “He’s in great spirits,” the source added.

Beckham was previously appointed an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in 2003, while Victoria Beckham was honoured for her contributions to the fashion industry.

In addition to his football legacy, Beckham has long been involved in charitable efforts. He has served as a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador since 2005 and actively supports the King’s Foundation, which focuses on educational and environmental initiatives for youth.
