December 23, 2024: Blake Lively has found strong support from her Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants co-stars, America Ferrera, Amber Tamblyn, and Alexis Bledel, amid serious allegations of sexual harassment and a “smear campaign” involving It Ends With Us director and co-star Justin Baldoni. The actresses, who have been close friends with Lively for over 20 years, took to Instagram to publicly stand by her in the wake of a formal complaint Lively filed regarding her experiences on the set of the film.
In a joint message shared on Instagram on Sunday, Ferrera, Tamblyn, and Bledel expressed their solidarity with Lively, condemning the alleged efforts to discredit her and the toxic environment created by Baldoni. “As Blake’s friends and sisters for over 20 years, we stand with her in solidarity as she fights back against the reported campaign waged to destroy her reputation,” they wrote.
They also addressed the disturbing nature of the accusations, including claims that Baldoni created a hostile workplace by engaging in inappropriate behavior, such as showing Lively nude images and videos of women, discussing his past “pornography addiction,” making inappropriate remarks about cast and crew genitalia, and commenting on Lively’s body. The actresses emphasized their disgust with the way Lively’s concerns for a safe working environment were reportedly met with retaliation and efforts to silence her. “We are appalled to read the evidence of a premeditated and vindictive effort that ensued to discredit her voice,” they added.
The statement also called attention to the exploitation of domestic violence survivor stories, which Lively claims were used to further silence her. “The hypocrisy is astounding,” they wrote, highlighting the irony that a woman of Lively’s status and resources could still face such retaliation for simply advocating for her own safety on set.
The trio’s message further reflected their admiration for Lively’s courage to speak out. “We are struck by the reality that even if a woman is as strong, celebrated and resourced as our friend Blake, she can face forceful retaliation for daring to ask for a safe working environment,” they noted, before concluding with a statement of pride in their friend’s bravery: “We are inspired by our sister’s courage to stand up for herself and others.”
In addition to the joint post, Ferrera and Tamblyn shared the message on their individual Instagram accounts, further amplifying their support. Lively’s husband, Ryan Reynolds, was reportedly present when she raised her concerns during an all-hands meeting on set, which Lively said was later followed by a coordinated effort to “bury” her reputation.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the complaint also includes allegations of Baldoni’s team attempting to manipulate the media against Lively, with text messages from Baldoni’s publicist suggesting they wanted to make sure she was “buried.”
In response, Baldoni’s attorney, Bryan Freedman, has strongly denied the allegations, calling them “shameful” and “categorically false.” He accused Lively of making these claims to fix her “negative reputation.”
Following the allegations, Baldoni was dropped by his talent agency, WME, which also represents both Lively and Reynolds.
This public show of support from Lively’s Sisterhood co-stars underscores the deep bond the actresses share, and signals their commitment to standing by her as she faces the serious personal and professional challenges that have emerged. It also serves as a reminder of the importance of speaking out against abuse of power and advocating for safe, respectful workplaces in the entertainment industry.
