The documentary tells the gripping story of two Ukrainian combat medics — nicknamed “Cuba” (Yulia Sidorova) and “Alaska” (Olexandra) — as they navigate the chaos of war with courage, humor, and unbreakable friendship. Shot largely using helmet-mounted GoPros and phone footage, the film provides an intimate and rarely seen perspective of women in conflict zones.

The producers praised Java FilmsKathryn Bonnici and Donatien Pierda for instantly connecting with the film’s human-centered message at CPH:Forum. “Having a sales agent who truly gets what we’re trying to say about the human side of this conflict means everything to us,” they stated.

To complement the emotional weight of the film, an original soundtrack featuring music by Ukrainian artist Serhiy Zhadan and a score by Frederik van de Moortel will be released on Spotify this Friday.
