Sitaare Zameen Par Box Office Day 1: Aamir Khan’s Comeback Film Trails Sikandar, Beats Kesari Chapter 2
June 21, 2025 | Aamir Khan’s much-anticipated return to the silver screen with Sitaare Zameen Par opened to modest numbers at the global box office, collecting ₹20 crore worldwide on its opening day. The film managed to surpass Akshay Kumar’s Kesari Chapter 2 but fell behind Ajay Devgn’s Raid 2 and Salman Khan’s Sikandar, indicating a lukewarm start despite critical support and audience appreciation.

While this figure is higher than the ₹15 crore worldwide opening of Kesari Chapter 2 (starring Akshay Kumar, R Madhavan, and Ananya Panday), it lags behind Raid 2 (₹25.70 crore) and Sikandar (₹26 crore), which have benefited from stronger pre-release buzz and mass-market appeal.
Directed by RS Prasanna, Sitaare Zameen Par is positioned as a spiritual successor to Aamir’s 2007 classic, Taare Zameen Par. This time, Aamir plays a basketball coach assigned to train a team of neurodivergent youth for a national-level tournament. The film also features Genelia D’Souza as his on-screen wife.

The sports-comedy introduces 10 debutants including Aroush Datta, Vedant Sharmaa, and Simran Mangeshkar, supported by seasoned actors like Dolly Ahluwalia, Brijendra Kala, and Gurpal Singh.
With positive word-of-mouth building, trade analysts predict an upward trend over the weekend, especially in metro cities. While comparisons with Sikandar and Raid 2 were inevitable, Sitaare Zameen Par may carve its own lane through emotional resonance and family appeal.
