Sitaare Zameen Par Crosses ₹80 Crore in 6 Days, Surpasses Taare Zameen Par and Shubh Mangal Saavdhan

Aamir Khan’s coming-of-age sports comedy continues its steady run at the box office, overtaking the lifetime earnings of his own directorial debut Taare Zameen Par and RS Prasanna’s Shubh Mangal Saavdhan.

Mumbai | June 26, 2025:
Aamir Khan’s latest release Sitaare Zameen Par is riding a wave of audience love and box office momentum. In just six days, the heartwarming sports dramedy has collected ₹82.40 crore, comfortably surpassing the lifetime domestic collections of both Taare Zameen Par (₹62.95 crore) and Shubh Mangal Saavdhan (₹42.79 crore).

Directed by RS Prasanna, the film has not only outperformed expectations but also bounced back strongly after a modest opening. It earned ₹10.7 crore on Friday and soared to ₹27.25 crore on Sunday. Despite a slight weekday dip, it continued to earn consistently with ₹8.5 crore each on Monday and Tuesday, and ₹7.25 crore on Wednesday.

Industry watchers now expect Sitaare Zameen Par to cross the ₹100 crore mark within the next few days — a major milestone that would mark a strong comeback for Aamir Khan, whose previous release Laal Singh Chaddha had struggled with a lifetime collection of ₹61.36 crore.

🔁 A Spiritual Sequel With Deeper Themes

Taare Zameen Par (2007) explored the story of a dyslexic child and the teacher who changes his life. In contrast, Sitaare Zameen Par flips the narrative — Aamir now plays a coach who is transformed by ten neuro-atypical children, including characters with Down syndrome, autism, and other developmental conditions.

“In Taare, a neuro-typical teacher helps a child with a learning disability. In Sitaare, it’s the neuro-atypical children who help the coach,” Aamir explained in an interview. “It’s a story that goes ten steps ahead.”

The film also features Genelia D’Souza, Dolly Ahluwalia, and Brijendra Kala, and is backed by Aamir Khan Productions.

🔚 Outperforming Contemporaries

Alongside surpassing his own classic, Aamir’s film has also outpaced RS Prasanna’s Hindi debut Shubh Mangal Saavdhan, a 2017 hit that starred Ayushmann Khurrana and Bhumi Pednekar and addressed the taboo topic of erectile dysfunction.

🎬 Box Office Outlook

With momentum holding steady and family audiences continuing to turn up, Sitaare Zameen Par looks well on its way to becoming one of the top-grossing Hindi films of 2025.
