Sitaare Zameen Par Trailer Impact: Strong Comeback or Another Setback for Aamir Khan?

May 15, 2025: The trailer for Aamir Khan’s much-anticipated film, Sitaare Zameen Par, has finally dropped—but the reaction is far from unanimous. Touted as a spiritual successor to 2007’s Taare Zameen Par, the new film carries massive emotional weight and expectations. Yet, with the lack of a strong ‘wow’ factor, industry observers are wondering: Can Mr. Perfectionist make his big comeback?

A Trailer That’s… Decent at Best?

Running 3 minutes and 29 seconds, the trailer offers moments of charm and a few emotional highs, but they don’t quite land with the impact expected from an Aamir Khan project. While the background score and dialogues have drawn some praise, the overall impression remains underwhelming. Critics note that the trailer lacks originality, and social media is already drawing comparisons to the 2018 Spanish film Champions, on which the movie is reportedly based.

“It feels too safe and too familiar. We expect more innovation from an Aamir Khan film,” one fan tweeted.

Post-Laal Singh Chaddha Pressure

Aamir Khan hasn’t seen box office success since Dangal in 2016. His last outing, Laal Singh Chaddha, underperformed and left audiences questioning his script choices. Much like Shah Rukh Khan’s post-Zero phase, Sitaare Zameen Par may prove to be a make-or-break moment for Aamir’s career revival.

Political Backlash and Boycott Trends

Adding to the film’s uphill battle is the political climate. Aamir Khan has faced online criticism for remaining silent amid rising India-Pakistan tensions, prompting calls for a boycott. A statement from Aamir Khan Productions came just a day before the trailer release, but many viewed it as damage control rather than genuine concern.

Box Office Outlook: A Moderate Start?

According to trade estimates, Sitaare Zameen Par may open in the range of ₹7–9 crore on day one—decent, but not spectacular for an Aamir Khan film. Its performance will heavily depend on word-of-mouth and upcoming promotions, as the current buzz is not enough to guarantee a blockbuster opening.

Verdict: Cautious Optimism or Trouble Ahead?

With underwhelming trailer reception, online backlash, and high stakes riding on it, Sitaare Zameen Par will need strong content and glowing reviews to gain momentum. Aamir Khan fans are hoping this marks his return to form—but it’s clear that the road ahead is far from smooth.
