Sky Force Box Office Day 14: Witnesses 78% Drop, Struggles to Break Even

Akshay Kumar’s Sky Force records ₹126.85 crore after two weeks but faces a tough path towards profitability.

February 8, 2025: Akshay Kumar and Veer Pahariya’s Sky Force has garnered decent collections at the end of its second week, despite losing a significant number of screens to Shahid Kapoor’s Deva. While the opening week generated excitement with impressive numbers, the momentum couldn’t sustain in the second week. Discounted ticket prices were a major factor driving the film’s solid first-week collections, which were missing in week two.

Box Office Performance

Directed by Sandeep Kewlani and Abhishek Anil Kapur, the action-packed film was released on January 24. Sky Force opened to positive reviews and benefited from favorable word-of-mouth, amassing ₹99.70 crore net in its first week. However, week two saw a steep 78% drop, with collections slowing down considerably.

The second week began on a decent note, earning ₹4.60 crore on Friday. The weekend showed promising jumps with ₹7.40 crore and ₹7.80 crore on Saturday and Sunday, respectively. However, the weekdays brought a sharp decline, with the film adding only ₹7.35 crore between Monday and Thursday. By the end of week two, Sky Force added ₹27.15 crore, bringing its 14-day total to ₹126.85 crore net.

Budget vs. Box Office

Despite the ₹126.85 crore net collection, the film is unlikely to break even due to its reported budget of ₹150–160 crore. With several Hindi releases hitting theatres, Sky Force faces stiff competition, making it challenging to sustain its current momentum.

Collection Breakdown

  • Week 1: ₹99.70 crore
  • Week 2: ₹27.15 crore
  • Total (14 Days): ₹126.85 crore

Verdict and Outlook

Considering Akshay Kumar’s recent box office performances, Sky Force has achieved a commendable total in isolation. However, it falls short of being profitable, primarily due to its high production costs and dwindling collections in week two. The film now faces an uphill battle to remain in the race amidst heavy competition.
