Sky Force Box Office: Produced at ₹160 Crore, Akshay Kumar’s Film Set to End Theatrical Run at ₹144 Crore Worldwide

Despite initial momentum, the patriotic action drama falls short of expectations at the box office.

February 13, 2025: Sky Force Wraps Up Theatrical Run with ₹144 Crore Gross Worldwide

Akshay Kumar and Veer Pahariya’s Sky Force, a war action drama based on India’s first airstrike, is nearing the end of its theatrical journey. Despite an initial surge driven by discount offers, the film failed to sustain momentum and is set to conclude its run with a global box office collection of ₹144 crore gross.

Box Office Breakdown:

  • India Gross Collection: ₹131 crore (Net: ₹109 crore)
  • Overseas Gross Collection: ₹13 crore
  • Total Worldwide Gross: ₹144 crore

While the film’s collections seem decent on paper, reports suggest heavy discounting on ticket prices played a key role in boosting numbers, with tickets being sold as low as ₹20-₹50 during the opening weekend. The actual organic lifetime earnings are estimated to be around ₹80 crore gross worldwide.

Why Sky Force Fell Short?

Despite a strong cast, patriotic theme, and positive word-of-mouth, Sky Force struggled to attract large-scale footfalls. Several factors contributed to its underwhelming performance:
Discounted ticket prices inflated early numbers
Limited overseas traction (only ₹13 crore gross)
New release ‘Chhaava’ overshadowing its later run

Looking Ahead: Chhaava Takes Center Stage

With Sky Force’s theatrical journey ending, Maddock Films and Jio Studios have now shifted their focus to Chhaava, their next big project starring Vicky Kaushal.

The only silver lining for Sky Force is that it performed better than most of Akshay Kumar’s recent releases, signaling a marginal improvement in his box office standing.

With its OTT release expected soon, the film may still find a wider audience beyond cinemas. However, as far as theatrical performance goes, Sky Force failed to take off as expected.
