Sky Force Day 1 Box Office: Akshay Kumar’s Comeback in Double Digits

"After a streak of flops, Akshay Kumar regains box office momentum with Sky Force's ₹11.25 crore opening on Republic Day weekend."

January 25, 2025: Sky Force Box Office Collection Day 1:
Akshay Kumar has finally found his way back to box office success with the Republic Day weekend release of Sky Force. Opening to a strong ₹11.25 crore (net) on its first day, the film marks a significant turnaround after a series of disappointing outings. This double-digit debut is Akshay’s best opening since Sooryavanshi in 2021.

The film's success owes much to its strategic pricing model. By keeping ticket prices significantly discounted, the producers managed to lure audiences back to theaters, a tactic rarely seen in Bollywood. As the weekend progresses, Sky Force is expected to show further growth, especially with the Republic Day holiday fueling footfalls.

About the Film:
Sky Force recounts India’s heroic airstrike on Pakistan’s Sargodha airbase during the 1965 Indo-Pak war. Directed by Abhishek Anil Kapur and Sandeep Kewlani, the film introduces newcomer Veer Pahariya alongside Akshay Kumar, with Nimrat Kaur and Sara Ali Khan in pivotal roles. The movie was made on a modest budget of ₹160 crore.

Sky Force vs. Fighter:
The film has drawn comparisons to Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone's Fighter, which also revolves around India’s aviation feats. While Fighter debuted with a stronger ₹22.5 crore opening, Sky Force stands out for delivering impressive numbers despite its smaller ₹160 crore budget compared to Fighter’s ₹250 crore.

Akshay Kumar’s Box Office Revival:
Akshay Kumar has struggled at the box office recently, with multiple films like Mission Raniganj, Selfiee, and Samrat Prithviraj failing to deliver. His last major solo hit was Sooryavanshi, which grossed ₹293 crore globally. With Sky Force, Akshay seems to be regaining his foothold in the industry.

Fan Reception:
Social media is buzzing with reactions to Sky Force. While many have praised the film’s patriotic theme and compelling narrative, others are hopeful this marks the beginning of Akshay’s resurgence as a bankable star.
