25 years after redefining Indian television, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi returns with Smriti Irani reprising her role as Tulsi Virani in a new chapter of Ekta Kapoor’s legacy show.

July-8, 2025: Smriti Irani is all set to return to the small screen as the legendary Tulsi Virani, with the much-anticipated reboot of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. The new season of the iconic show will premiere on July 29 at 10:30 PM on Star Plus, with episodes also available on JioHotstar.

The announcement was made by the channel on Monday night, alongside the first look of Smriti Irani donning her familiar role as Tulsi. The reboot marks a nostalgic revival of one of India’s most beloved daily soaps, which originally aired from 2000 to 2008 and ruled the TRP charts for seven consecutive years.

“Kya aap abhi bhi vishwaas nahi kar paa rahe? 25 saal ke baad, Tulsi Virani laut rahi hai, ek nayi kahaani ke saath!” read the official post from Star Plus. The promo features Irani performing aarti at the sacred Tulsi plant, saying, “Zaroor aaoongi. Kyunki itne saalon ka rishtha jo hai. Waqt aa gaya hai aapse phir milne ka.” (I will definitely return. This bond is years in the making. It’s time to meet you all again.)

The return comes exactly 25 years after the show’s original debut on July 3, 2000, a milestone that Smriti Irani acknowledged in a heartfelt post. “Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi wasn’t just a show—it was emotion, memory, ritual,” she wrote. “To every viewer who made Tulsi a part of their own family—thank you.”

Produced by Ekta Kapoor, the reboot retains the original prime-time slot and is expected to blend the nostalgia of its early 2000s appeal with fresh storytelling for a new generation of viewers.
