The television industry is abuzz as Smriti Irani, who recently made a blockbuster return to the small screen with Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2, has issued a stern legal warning regarding a rumored spin-off.
Reacting to reports of a new series titled Kyunki Rishton Ke Bhi Roop Badalte Hain, the actress-politician clarified that she has no association with any project other than the main reboot and warned against the unauthorized use of her likeness.
The controversy erupted on Sunday, March 22, 2026, after PR content suggested a spin-off focusing on characters played by Tanisha Mehta and Rohit Suchanti.
Taking to social media to protect her intellectual property, Irani commented, “May want to check PR content with authorities that have IP rights. I am not associated with any other show… No spin-off program is authorized for my engagement legally, which entitles use of my image and/or personality.” Her proactive stance aims to ensure viewers are not misinformed by unofficial marketing tactics.

Currently, Smriti Irani is headlining the high-profile reboot of the iconic 2000s soap, reprising her legendary role as Tulsi Virani. The show has already made headlines for its massive scale, with Irani herself confirming a staggering fee of ₹14 lakh per episode, making her the highest-paid actor in the history of Indian television. The series also marks the return of original cast members including Amar Upadhyay, Hiten Tejwani, and Gauri Pradhan.
As the “Aqua Line” of the Mumbai Metro experienced a brief 20-minute halt and fans were left stunned by Ranveer Singh’s “Ghost” transformation in Dhurandhar 2, Smriti Irani’s legal boundary-setting serves as a reminder of the shifting dynamics in celebrity brand management. For now, the Virani family drama remains confined to the official sequel, with no authorized spin-offs in the works featuring its lead star.
