Smriti Mandhana Announces Engagement to Palaash Muchhal in Fun Video Along With Her Teammates
Indian cricket star Smriti Mandhana has officially announced her engagement to music composer Palash Muchhal via a fun, choreographed Instagram reel featuring her teammates, with the couple set to marry on November 23.
November 21, 2025: Indian vice-captain and World Cup winner Smriti Mandhana confirmed her engagement to long-time partner, music composer and filmmaker Palash Muchhal, in a delightful social media announcement yesterday, just days before their wedding on November 23.
Mandhana, along with teammates Jemimah Rodrigues, Shreyanka Patil, Radha Yadav, and Arundhati Reddy, shared a fun, choreographed reel on her official Instagram handle. The group performed to the song Samjho Ho Hi Gaya from the film Lage Raho Munna Bhai. The playful video, which was shot inside a gym, concluded with Mandhana flashing her engagement ring to the camera as her teammates cheered.
Adding a unique and high-profile touch to the couple’s celebration, Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his best wishes through an official letter to the Mandhana and Muchhal families.
The letter congratulated the families and beautifully referenced the joining of the two different worlds the couple represents:
From PM Narendra Modi’s Letter: “As they start a new, beautiful life together, the grace of Smriti’s cover drive meets the lilting musical symphony of Palaash in a wonderful partnership.”
The Prime Minister also noted the celebratory spirit, mentioning that a “Celebration Cricket Match has been scheduled between Team Groom and Team Bride! May both these teams win in the game of life.”
The wedding announcement puts an end to months of public speculation. Palash Muchhal, who holds a Guinness World Record for being the youngest music composer in Bollywood, had previously hinted at the nuptials, stating that Smriti would soon become the “daughter-in-law of Indore.”
The couple has been dating for quite some time, with their relationship being publicly embraced by their families and the cricket fraternity. Smriti Mandhana’s announcement follows her pivotal role in India Women’s historic ICC ODI World Cup victory last month, capping off a stellar year both professionally and personally.
