After Aimee Lou Wood expressed disappointment over her exaggerated portrayal on Saturday Night Live, Sarah Sherman makes a sweet peace offering

Los Angeles, April 17: Saturday Night Live cast member Sarah Sherman extended an olive branch to actress Aimee Lou Wood, sending her a bouquet of flowers after backlash over Sherman’s unflattering parody of Wood’s White Lotus character in an SNL sketch titled “The White POTUS.”

On Tuesday, Wood took to Instagram to share the gesture, posting a photo of a pink and orange floral arrangement and captioning it:

“Thank you for the beautiful flowers [Sarah Sherman].”

The gift came just days after Wood publicly expressed disappointment over the SNL spoof, in which Sherman portrayed her character Chelsea with an exaggerated accent and cartoonish false teeth. The portrayal aired in a satirical pre-taped segment that parodied The White Lotus through a Trump-era political lens, targeting figures like Donald Trump, Melania Trump, Donald Jr., and Robert F. Kennedy Jr., played by James Austin Johnson, Chloe Fineman, Mikey Day, and Jon Hamm respectively.

While the segment mainly mocked political figures, Wood’s character stood out as the only White Lotus role directly parodied. Following the sketch, Wood took to social media saying:

“Yes, take the piss for sure – that’s what the show is about – but there must be a cleverer, more nuanced, less cheap way?”

Despite the jab, Sherman’s kind gesture appears to have softened the moment, showing that even in comedy, grace and goodwill can follow punchlines.
