The rapper claimed he was “scared” to watch films with his grandson due to LGBTQ+ representation. The remarks have sparked widespread backlash online, with critics now demanding the AFL drop him as its Grand Final headliner.

August 25, 2025: Snoop Dogg, an American musician, is getting more criticism for what he said regarding LGBTQ+ representation in kids’ movies. The musician remarked on the “It’s Giving” podcast that he’s “scared to go to the movies” with his grandson because he doesn’t know how to answer questions that come up when they watch movies like that.

The argument started because Snoop Dogg talked about how he felt about the Pixar movie Lightyear. He told how his grandson was bewildered by a scene in which one of the main characters is portrayed with her wife. The rapper added that his grandson asked questions such, “How can she have a baby with a woman?” “She’s a woman!” “F****ed me up,” and then he didn’t say anything else.

On social media, people have strongly criticized his comments and many have questioned his commitment to diversity. There has been even more outrage, with people calling for him to be dropped as the main performer for the forthcoming Australian Football League (AFL) Grand Final. Some people say that his opinions don’t belong on one of the biggest stages in sports.

Andrew Dillon, the CEO of the AFL, defended the decision to keep Snoop Dogg as the performer in light of the escalating uproar. Dillon said that the league is working with “the person he is today,” calling the rapper a “grandfather, philanthropist, [and] global entertainer” whose recent performances have been “appropriate and well-received.”

The rapper has gotten in trouble for making inflammatory comments before. He has spoken things that some have thought were homophobic and transphobic in the past, such a comment he made about Caitlyn Jenner in 2015.
