Son Of Sardaar 2 Review: Ajay Devgn Starrer Is A Wholesome Comedy with Big Laughs and Bigger Surprises

A hilarious, wholesome family entertainer that delivers big laughs with a big heart. While Ajay Devgn brings his signature charm, it’s the impeccable comic timing of the supporting cast that truly steals the show.

August 1, 2025: Thirteen years after the box office success of the original, Ajay Devgn is back as Jassi in the spiritual sequel Son Of Sardaar 2. Directed by Vijay Kumar Arora, the film, which also stars Mrunal Thakur, Ravi Kishan, and Deepak Dobriyal, has been released in theaters with the aim of delivering a hilarious, no-brainer comedy.

Plot and Storyline

The film’s plot, written by Jagdeep Singh Sindhu and Mohit Jain, revolves around Jassi who travels to the UK to visit his wife Dimple (Neeru Bajwa) only to be met with a divorce notice. In this “siyappa,” he encounters Rabia (Mrunal Thakur) and her Pakistani family, who are trying to get Rabia’s stepdaughter married to an Indian boy whose family (the Sandhu Khaandaan) insists on an Indian bride. This leads to Jassi, Rabia, and her family pretending to be an Indian family, setting off a series of comedic events.

The review notes that the movie has a shaky start with a “clumsy” and “scattered” screenplay for the first 20-25 minutes but then “picks up amazingly” to become a “laugh riot.” While the second half has a brief dip, the pre-climax and climax are described as “simply hilarious,” with the last 20-25 minutes being particularly side-splitting.

Cast Performances

The review highlights that while Ajay Devgn has done a “wonderful job” with his over-the-top comedy, the film’s comedic strength truly lies with Ravi Kishan and Deepak Dobriyal. Both actors have been given some of the best scenes, and their comic timing is lauded as “just perfect.” It was also noted as impressive that a star like Devgn gave the entire climax to Ravi Kishan. Mrunal Thakur’s performance is praised for her ability to shine in comedic scenes. The supporting cast, including Kubbra Sait, Vindu Dara Singh, and the late Mukul Dev, are also commended, although Ashwini Kalsekar and Sanjay Mishra are considered underutilized.

Music & Final Verdict

The film’s music, including the title track and “The Po Po Song,” has been well-received, and the viral hook step of “Pehla Tu Duja Tu” also leaves a mark.

Ultimately, the verdict is that Son Of Sardaar 2 is a hilarious, no-brainer comedy that works as a fun family entertainer. The review also teases a special cameo at the end and an announcement of a “very BIG franchise movie.” The film has been given a rating of 3.5 stars.
