Sonakshi Sinha Reveals Couples Therapy Saved Her Relationship with Zaheer Iqbal

Bollywood actor Sonakshi Sinha recently shared a candid look into her eight-year relationship with husband Zaheer Iqbal, revealing that the couple successfully navigated a challenging phase by opting for couples therapy.

During a chat on Soha Ali Khan’s podcast, Sonakshi acknowledged that, like any long-term bond, their relationship had its “highs and lows,” specifically recalling a “three-year itch.”

Overcoming the Rough Patch

Sonakshi revealed that the challenging phase occurred around the three-year mark, where they frequently struggled to understand each other’s point of view.

“Just when we were three years into the relationship, we had a phase where we just wanted to pull each other’s hair out. No matter what we did, we just couldn’t understand each other’s perspective,” she said.

Recognizing the need to preserve their connection, Zaheer Iqbal suggested couples therapy, a proposition Sonakshi was open to. She credited the therapy with quickly resolving their issues:

“After two sessions, we were back on track. It helped so much to understand what the other person thinks, and that what they say is not necessarily what they mean.”

The Start of Their Love Story

In the same podcast, Sonakshi shared a lighter moment from the start of their romance, revealing she was the first to say “I love you” within just a week of dating, which Zaheer initially laughed off.¹ She added that it was the way Zaheer made her feel, not just his looks, that drew her in.

The couple, who first met at a party hosted by Salman Khan, initially kept their relationship private.² After seven years of dating, Sonakshi and Zaheer tied the knot in a civil ceremony in June 2024 in Mumbai, followed by a star-studded celebration at Bastian.
