Sonakshi Sinha’s ‘Nikita Roy’ Release Postponed to July 18- Here’s Why

Originally scheduled for June 27, the thriller has been delayed due to a crowded release calendar and screen allocation issues, say producers.

Mumbai, June 26, 2025 — Just a day before its scheduled release, Sonakshi Sinha’s thriller Nikita Roy and the Book of Darkness has been officially postponed. The makers, NVB Films, confirmed on social media that the film will now hit cinemas on July 18, 2025, citing a “battle for screens” amid multiple major film releases.

The thriller, directed by Kussh Sinha in his directorial debut, also stars Paresh Rawal, Suhail Nayyar, and Arjun Rampal. The film was initially slated to clash with Kajol’s mythological horror Maa on June 27 — a move that posed a challenge for exhibitors and distributors alike.

Official Statement by NVB Films

In an Instagram post, NVB Films wrote:

“We have found ourselves in the midst of multiple releases and a battle for screens… with advice from our well-wishers in the fraternity, distributors, and exhibitors, we have collectively decided to push our release to the 18th of July, so that we can reach a wider audience.”

“Thank you for the immense love you have shown for the film so far… we promise you, July 18 will be worth the wait!”

Shatrughan Sinha’s Support

Ahead of the original release date, veteran actor and father Shatrughan Sinha had taken to X (formerly Twitter) on June 25 to show his support:

“The most awaited film ‘Nikita Roy’… the directorial debut of our brilliant gifted son Kussh Sinha is releasing on June 27. Do catch this gripping thriller with an amazing talented cast… Sonakshi Sinha, Paresh Rawal, Arjun Rampal & others. Jai Hind!”

About the Film

Nikita Roy and the Book of Darkness is described as a gripping psychological thriller centered around a mysterious manuscript and a web of secrets. With a dark, suspenseful narrative and a powerhouse cast, the film has already created buzz online — especially following its trailer release earlier this month.

While the delay may disappoint eager fans, the new release window could provide Nikita Roy with a better theatrical run free of direct competition.
