Sonam Bajwa & Ammy Virk Talk ‘Kudi Haryane Val Di’

Sonam Bajwa and Ammy Virk are busy promoting their upcoming film ‘Kudi Haryane Val Di,’ a cross-cultural Punjabi-Haryanvi drama. The stars recently shared insights into their roles and the film’s unique storyline.

Sonam Bajwa, speaking to ANI, described the film as a blend of two worlds—Punjab and Haryana. “It’s about a Punjabi guy who falls in love with a Haryanvi girl. There’s family drama, romance, wrestling, and comedy. The story revolves around their journey of finding love and how their families come together.”

In the film, Sonam plays Neelam, a Haryanvi girl passionate about wrestling, while Ammy portrays a Punjabi guy who dislikes wrestling. Sonam explained, “Neelam loves wrestling but can’t pursue it for some reason. She is proud of her culture and never thought she’d fall in love. Her character discovers a lot about herself through this love story.”

Sonam also shared the challenges of her role, particularly mastering the Haryanvi language. “Playing a Haryanvi character was a dream, but the language was tough. It was a new challenge, and I’m grateful for the opportunity.”

The film features a stellar cast, including Ajay Hooda, Yashpal Sharma, Yograj Singh, Hardeep Gill, Seema Kaushal, Honey Mattu, and Deedar Gill. Sonam highlighted the film’s intercultural romance, expressing hope that audiences will love this fresh concept.

Ammy and Sonam have previously co-starred in hits like ‘Muklawa’ and ‘Puaada.’ Ammy spoke about their strong working relationship, saying, “We are good friends and have done several films together. We love working with each other. Our next movie, ‘Nikka Zaildar,’ is also coming out soon.”

Interestingly, ‘Kudi Haryane Val Di’ is titled ‘Chori Haryane Aali’ in Haryanvi, marking the first time a Punjabi film has dual titles. This film also sees Sonam Bajwa playing a Jaatni and speaking Haryanvi, while Ammy Virk maintains his Punjabi dialect.

Directed by Rakesh Dhawan and produced by Pawan Gill, Aman Gill, and Sunny Gill, the film is set to release on June 14, 2024. The creators behind blockbusters like ‘Shadaa’ and ‘Puaada’ promise another hit with this unique cultural blend.
