Sonu Sood to Receive Miss World Humanitarian Award for COVID-19 Relief Efforts
May 06, 2025: Celebrated actor and philanthropist Sonu Sood will be honoured with the prestigious Humanitarian Award by the Miss World Organisation at the Grand Finale of the 72nd Miss World Festival in Hyderabad. The award recognises Sood’s impactful humanitarian work during the COVID-19 crisis and his continued commitment to social welfare through the Sood Charity Foundation.
The award ceremony will take place on May 31, 2025, at the HITEX Arena, marking the closing celebration of the global beauty pageant.
In addition to receiving this international honour, Sonu Sood will also serve as one of the official judges at the finale, helping crown the next Miss World alongside a panel of distinguished personalities.
Expressing his gratitude, Sonu Sood shared, “Receiving the Humanitarian Award from the Miss World Organisation is deeply humbling. It reinforces the purpose behind our efforts—to bring hope, support, and dignity to those in need.” He also announced a new collaboration between the Sood Charity Foundation and the Miss World Organisation aimed at promoting awareness for a Cancer Free World.
Julia Morley CBE, Chairman and CEO of the Miss World Organisation, lauded Sood’s work, saying, “Sonu Sood’s compassion, tireless dedication, and impact through his foundation perfectly embody the spirit of ‘Beauty With A Purpose.’ We are proud to honour him for his extraordinary service to humanity.”
The Sood Charity Foundation, along with its community-driven initiative, the Sonu Sood Charity Club (SSCC), has been instrumental in providing education, skill development, healthcare access, and emergency relief. Sood gained national and international recognition during the COVID-19 pandemic for helping stranded migrant workers, providing medical assistance, and supporting underprivileged students with access to education and employment opportunities.
