Sonu Sood’s ‘Fateh’ Ends Its Theatrical Run as a Box Office Disaster
February 6, 2025: Sonu Sood’s directorial debut, Fateh, featuring Jacqueline Fernandez, Naseeruddin Shah, Vijay Raaz, and Dibyendu Bhattacharya, has reached the end of its theatrical journey with underwhelming box office collections. Released on January 10, 2025, the action-packed cybercrime drama struggled to find favor with the audience, earning only ₹14 crore globally.

Box Office Performance:
Fateh began its theatrical run with a modest ₹2 crore net on its opening day and managed ₹6 crore net over its first weekend in India. However, the movie faced a sharp decline from Monday onwards, concluding its domestic run at approximately ₹10 crore net (₹12 crore gross). In overseas markets, it added ₹2 crore to its total, bringing its worldwide gross to ₹14 crore.
What Went Wrong?
The film’s lackluster performance can be attributed to several factors, including weak marketing, average word-of-mouth, and the absence of a prominent star cast. Despite Sonu Sood’s sincere efforts and an intriguing plot, Fateh failed to generate the excitement needed to draw audiences to theatres. With its inability to recover production costs from its theatrical run, the movie is now relying on non-theatrical revenue streams, such as OTT platforms, for redemption.
Next Steps:
The film’s OTT release may provide an opportunity for a second life, but it remains to be seen whether the cybercrime action drama can create significant buzz on digital platforms.
Audience Reactions:
Fans and critics alike have expressed mixed reviews, with many lamenting the film’s potential but lack of execution.
