Sooraj Pancholi Gets Emotional at Kesari Veer Trailer Launch as He Returns to Films After 4 Years

April 29, 2025: After a four-year hiatus, actor Sooraj Pancholi made an emotional return to the film industry with his new project “Kesari Veer”. The trailer for the film was launched in Mumbai on Tuesday, where an overwhelmed Sooraj struggled to hold back tears while expressing his gratitude to the makers and his co-stars.

At the event, Sooraj, visibly moved, paused as he tried to speak, his eyes welling up with emotion. He said, “This is a very special film to all of us. Thank you, Kanu (Chauhan), for giving me the chance. Thank you, Akanksha…” before taking a brief moment to compose himself. Suniel Shetty, his co-star, offered comfort during this emotional moment, providing support as Sooraj gathered himself.

In an emotional speech, Sooraj opened up about his absence from the film industry, acknowledging the personal challenges he had faced. Without directly referencing the Jiah Khan case, which had kept him out of the spotlight for several years, he remarked, “Life. Many things I had to clear from my life. Everyone knows about it. There’s nothing more hiding behind it.” Sooraj, whose name was linked to the tragic death of Jiah Khan in 2013, was acquitted by a CBI Special Court in May 2023, and the actor expressed his feelings of readiness for a return to cinema.

“My mother says good things take time. I was waiting for the right film, and I don’t think I could have ever gotten a better film than this to let me say a comeback,” he said, referring to “Kesari Veer” as the perfect opportunity to return to the big screen.

Kesari Veer, set in the 14th century, is a historical drama that focuses on the unsung heroes who fought to protect the Somnath Temple from invaders. The film, directed by Prince Dhiman and produced by Kanu Chauhan, portrays the bravery and sacrifices of warriors who stood against the forces that sought to destroy the temple. Sooraj plays a pivotal role in this inspiring tale of courage.

The tragic death of Jiah Khan in 2013 had placed Sooraj Pancholi at the center of a media storm. He was initially arrested and charged with abetment to suicide after a letter allegedly written by Jiah was found, leading to public scrutiny. Jiah’s mother, Rabia Khan, had also claimed that her daughter was murdered, leading to a lengthy investigation. However, in May 2023, Sooraj was acquitted by a CBI Special Court, clearing his name after years of legal battles.

With Kesari Veer, Sooraj Pancholi is now aiming to make his mark again, stepping into a role that celebrates historical heroism and resilience.
