Sony confirms long-awaited sequel’s release date for June 4, 2027, with first footage revealed at CinemaCon

Washington [US], April 1: The wait is finally over. Sony Pictures has announced that the highly anticipated animated sequel ‘Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse’ will hit theatres on June 4, 2027 — four years after the release of its blockbuster predecessor ‘Across the Spider-Verse’.

The big reveal was made during CinemaCon 2025, where directors Bob Persichetti and Justin K. Thompson also gave fans a glimpse of the first footage from the film. The clip featured Miles Morales, voiced once again by Shameik Moore, delivering a powerful line:

“Everyone keeps telling me how my story is supposed to go. I’m gonna do my own thing.”

Produced by Phil Lord, Chris Miller, and Amy Pascal, the sequel continues the legacy of the Spider-Verse saga. The script has been penned by Lord, Miller, and David Callaham. Returning alongside Moore is Hailee Steinfeld as Spider-Gwen, adding continuity and star power to the multiversal epic.

Originally slated for a March 2024 release, Beyond the Spider-Verse was later pulled from the calendar, sparking fan speculation. Insiders attribute the delay to the filmmakers’ unwavering commitment to delivering a film that matches — if not exceeds — the brilliance of the previous installments.
