Spirit: New Year’s Break Called Off To Wrap Shoot Early; Prabhas, Triptii Dimri And Cast To Shoot Till Mid-January

Director Sandeep Reddy Vanga has officially scrapped the planned holiday break for his upcoming cop actioner Spirit, pushing the cast and crew to film through the New Year in a bid to move the release date forward to mid-2027.

December 18, 2025: While the original plan was to wrap the first schedule of Spirit by late December and pause for a festive break, filmmaker Sandeep Reddy Vanga has reportedly changed gears. To ensure the film hits its new, accelerated deadline, the team will now continue shooting in Hyderabad through the first week of January.

Kick-off Date: Principal photography began on November 27, 2025.

The Schedule: The team is currently filming intense sequences, with the next major schedule rumored to take place in Mexico in early 2026.

Release Shift: Initially slated for December 2027, Vanga is now eyeing a mid-2027 release (August). This strategic shift is reportedly aimed at avoiding a box-office collision with the global juggernaut Avengers: Secret Wars, scheduled for December 17, 2027.

Vivek Oberoi: The New ‘Animal’ Style Antagonist

One of the most exciting updates from the set is the “new avatar” planned for Vivek Oberoi, who plays the primary antagonist. Following the massive success of Bobby Deol’s silent yet menacing portrayal of Abrar in Animal, insiders suggest Vanga has designed a similarly unique and gritty look for Oberoi.

“Animal presented Bobby Deol in a new avatar. Spirit will do something similar for Vivek,” a source revealed to mid-day.

This marks the first collaboration between the director and both Prabhas and Oberoi. Prabhas, playing a high-ranking police officer, is also undergoing a significant physical transformation to fit Vanga’s gritty, “brutal” cinematic vision.

A Star-Studded Collaboration

The film features Triptii Dimri as the female lead, continuing her professional streak with Vanga after her breakout performance in Animal. The project also reportedly features veteran actor Prakash Raj, whose voice was recently heard in the “Sound Story” teaser released on Prabhas’s birthday.
