Squid Game Final Season Drops June 27: Lee Jung-jae Says He’s ‘Very Nervous’ About Fans’ Reaction

June 03, 2025: As Squid Game gears up for its final season premiere on June 27, lead actor Lee Jung-jae, who plays Seong Gi-hun, shared his excitement and anxiety over how fans will receive the series’ conclusion.

Netflix unveiled the trailer for the highly anticipated final season during its Tudum global fan event, confirming the return of Gi-hun as he re-enters the deadly arena following the failed rebellion teased in Season 2.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter on the red carpet, Lee Jung-jae, who won an Emmy in 2022 for his gripping performance, admitted,

“We are going to be releasing it quite soon, and I’m very nervous. I know that a lot of you are curious about what’s going to happen in Season 3, but we’re more curious about how much you’re going to enjoy it.”

The actor has been the emotional core of the show since its global breakout and continues to be a pivotal figure in the upcoming finale.

Joining the conversation, Lee Byung-hun, who plays the enigmatic Front Man, revealed that he read the scripts for Seasons 2 and 3 together and found them “perfectly written.”

“It was such an intriguing and gripping read. I was once again in awe of director Hwang Dong-hyuk‘s storytelling abilities,” he said.

When asked how he felt about the conclusion of the story, Lee Jung-jae added,

“I’m happy with how it ended, but fans each have their own expectations. I’m really curious—and nervous—to see how they respond.”

Having dominated the Nielsen streaming charts and becoming one of the most-watched series globally, Squid Game is set to bow out with a finale that promises suspense, emotion, and high stakes.
