Squid Game Star BIGBANG’s T.O.P Set to Return With Solo Album – Fans Go Wild!

June 13, 2025: Former BIGBANG member Choi Seung-Hyun, popularly known as T.O.P, is once again making headlines — not for controversy, but for a potential comeback to music. His unexpected yet widely acclaimed performance as Thanos, the enigmatic anti-hero in Squid Game Season 2, has reignited global fan interest and propelled him back into the spotlight.

From Controversy to Comeback

T.O.P’s involvement in Squid Game initially stirred online debate due to his past legal issues, including a 2017 conviction for drug abuse that led to his withdrawal from the K-pop industry. At the time, he had publicly declared his decision to step away from entertainment, leaving fans unsure about his future.

However, his powerful portrayal of Thanos — a character praised for its duality of violence and comedy — not only earned him critical acclaim but also sparked fan-driven demand for his return to music. Though his character was ultimately killed off in the series, T.O.P’s popularity continues to surge, particularly among younger fans and international viewers.

Viral Moment Hints at Solo Album

During a promotional interview with Award Buzz, T.O.P cheekily addressed how his character would act if modeled after Marvel’s Thanos. “I’d be selfish… take all the money for myself,” he joked — in character. But it was his offhand comment, “My solo album is dropping soon!”, that set the internet ablaze.

Though it remains unclear whether he was speaking as himself or his fictional counterpart, fans are choosing optimism. Social media erupted with excitement, with one user on X (formerly Twitter) writing, “T.O.P solo album soon Ohhhhmy god I used to pray for times like this.” Others echoed the sentiment, calling the moment “surreal” and demanding official confirmation.

Comeback Confirmed?

While no official statement has been released by T.O.P or his management, sources close to the artist suggest that he is indeed preparing to re-enter the music scene. His last known activity in the industry was in May 2023, before once again receding from public life. But insiders hint that the momentum from Squid Game may have shifted his outlook.

Netflix and Squid Game producers have reportedly been so impressed by his impact that, despite his character’s death, T.O.P has remained front and center in promotional campaigns for Season 3 — a rare move for a non-returning character.

A Second Act for T.O.P?

T.O.P’s career has been one of both meteoric highs and dramatic setbacks. From global stardom as part of BIGBANG to a deeply public fall from grace, his journey has been turbulent. Yet, with a growing wave of fan support, a critically praised acting role, and buzz around a musical comeback, 2025 might just be the year T.O.P reclaims his throne.
