February 11, 2025: The iconic Bollywood film Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (DDLJ), starring Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol, celebrates its 30th anniversary in 2025. The film, which remains beloved by audiences worldwide, is now part of a unique collaboration between Britain’s railway system and Yash Raj Films (YRF) to mark two major milestones: the railway’s 200th anniversary and DDLJ’s three decades of success.
As part of the Valentine’s Day festivities celebrating the romance of rail travel, YRF and Britain’s Railway 200 have partnered to present Come Fall in Love – The DDLJ Musical, a stage adaptation of the 1995 film. The musical will premiere at the Manchester Opera House on May 29, 2025, and run until June 21, 2025.
The production will feature an original score with 18 English songs, blending East and West through music by Vishal Dadlani and Sheykhar Ravjiani, with a book and lyrics by Nell Benjamin. The creative team includes choreographer Rob Ashford, co-choreographer for Indian dances Shruti Merchant, scenic designer Derek McLane, and casting director David Grindrod.
A highlight of the musical will be the iconic scene filmed at London’s King’s Cross Railway Station, where the film’s lead characters, played by Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol, famously share a moment of love.
The collaboration aims to celebrate the power of connection, culture, and love, with immersive activations planned at Manchester and London railway stations. Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, the longest-running film in Indian cinema, continues to captivate audiences worldwide and remains a landmark in Bollywood history.
