‘Star Wars’ Actor Angus MacInnes Dies At The Age Of 77

December 31, 2024: Canadian actor Angus MacInnes, best known for his memorable role as Gold Leader (Jon “Dutch” Vander) in Star Wars: A New Hope, has passed away at the age of 77. According to a statement shared by his family on social media, MacInnes died peacefully on December 23, 2024, surrounded by his loved ones.

MacInnes’ career spanned several decades, with notable roles in films such as Witness, Judge Dredd, Captain Phillips, Eyes Wide Shut, The Black Dahlia, and Formula 51. His legacy is especially cherished by Star Wars fans, where he made an indelible mark as the leader of the Rebel pilots in the original Star Wars trilogy, and reprised his role in the prequel, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

The statement from his family described him as a “kind, thoughtful, and generous soul” who brought warmth and humor to all those who knew him. He was deeply loved by his family, friends, fellow actors, and fans around the world.

His contribution to film and the lives he touched will be remembered by many. Angus MacInnes is survived by his family, and they thanked his fans for their support during this difficult time.
