May 22, 2025: Veteran actor Suniel Shetty has made a strong statement in defense of his son Ahan Shetty, who is set to star in Border 2, the highly anticipated sequel to JP Dutta’s iconic 1997 war drama Border. In an interview with Times Now, Suniel revealed that Ahan faced significant professional setbacks, including being dropped from multiple films, due to his commitment to Border 2.

While Suniel is not part of the sequel, he expressed pride in his son’s decision to be involved in the patriotic project. He shared that he had advised Ahan to give his complete dedication to the film, saying, “Because this is the film that will keep you alive, it will keep your father alive for decades to come. On 26 January and 15 August, we will always be seen.”

Suniel also claimed that Ahan was unfairly targeted for prioritizing Border 2. “Ahan let go of many things for this film. A lot of opportunities slipped out of his hands due to egos. He was removed from films and then blamed. Rumours were spread that he comes with expensive bodyguards, and paid articles were published,” he said.
Calling out the alleged campaign against his son, Suniel warned those conspiring behind the scenes. “Stories were made up because Ahan wanted to do Border, while others wanted their own films to be made. Everything was manipulated. If this escalates further, I will hold a press conference and expose everyone. Jinki dhajjiyan udani hai, uda dunga (I will tear down whoever needs to be exposed),” he said.
Border 2 is being directed by Anurag Singh, known for the critically acclaimed Kesari (2019), and is being produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, JP Dutta, and Nidhi Dutta. The film features a powerful ensemble cast including Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, and Diljit Dosanjh, and is slated for a Republic Day weekend release on 23 January 2026.
