Sunjay Kapur’s Funeral To Be Held In Delhi Today June 19, After Sudden Demise At 53
June 19, 2025 | New Delhi: Sunjay Kapur, prominent industrialist, polo enthusiast, and former husband of Bollywood actor Karisma Kapoor, will be laid to rest in Delhi on Thursday, June 19, the family confirmed via an official press note.

Sunjay Kapur tragically passed away at the age of 53 in the UK on June 12, after reportedly suffering a heart attack caused by swallowing a bee during a polo match.
Sunjay Kapur served as the Chairman of Sona Comstar, a leading auto component company that has made significant strides in the electric vehicle manufacturing sector. Beyond the corporate world, he was a noted polo player and was deeply involved in the Indian equestrian circuit.

He was married to Karisma Kapoor from 2003 to 2016. The couple share two children—daughter Samaira and son Kiaan. He later married Priya Kapur and had two more children, Safira and Azarias.
Sunjay’s final X (formerly Twitter) posts displayed his philosophical side. On June 9, he shared:
“Your time on Earth is limited. Leave the ‘what ifs’ to the philosophers and instead dive headfirst into the ‘why nots’. #MondayMotivation”
On the day of the Air India crash in Ahmedabad, just hours before his own death, he had posted a message of condolence:
“Terrible news of the tragic Air India crash in Ahmedabad. My thoughts and prayers are with all the families affected. May they find strength in this difficult hour. #planecrash”
Sunjay Kapur is survived by his mother Rani Surinder Kapur, wife Priya Kapur, and his four children—Samaira, Kiaan, Safira, and Azarias.
