Sunjay Kapur’s Sister Makes SHOCKING Claim About Brother’s Death

The inheritance battle for the Sona Comstar empire has reached a fever pitch as Mandhira Kapur Smith publicly challenged the legitimacy of the “Kapur legacy” under Sunjay Kapur’s widow, Priya Sachdev Kapur, even questioning the nature of her brother’s sudden death.

December 17, 2025: In an explosive appearance on the InControversial podcast, Mandhira Kapur Smith delivered a scathing critique of Priya Sachdev Kapur, asserting that the multibillion-dollar business belongs to the biological Kapur lineage. Mandhira claimed the family feels as though their “child [the company, Sona Comstar] is being kidnapped” by Priya.

“She’s not the face for this family. She’s not the face for this company. She shouldn’t even be around… Our journey with Sona was very personal,” Mandhira stated, adding that her father’s hard work should not be taken away.

Mandhira further alleged that Sunjay’s mother, Rani Kapur, has been sidelined and left without even a home, despite the family’s immense wealth.

Questions Over Death and Forgery

The feud has moved beyond financial assets into darker territory. Mandhira openly expressed doubts regarding the official report that Sunjay died of a heart attack while playing polo in London in June 2025.

  • Suspicious Circumstances: “I don’t feel my brother died of natural causes… My brother was a healthy guy, and I will get to the bottom of everything,” Mandhira said, demanding a full coroner’s report.
  • The “Suspicious” Will: Sunjay’s children with Karisma Kapoor—Samaira and Kiaan—have filed a petition in the Delhi High Court alleging that the will produced by Priya is forged. They pointed out “bloopers” in the document, including the misspelling of Sunjay’s own children’s names and incorrect addresses.
  • Forensic Fight: On December 16, Priya Sachdev Kapur reportedly opposed a plea for forensic testing of the will, a move legal experts called “unusual” for a probate dispute of this scale.

The Estate at Stake

The battle revolves around a staggering ₹30,000 crore ($3.6 billion) estate. The disputed will allegedly leaves the entire fortune to Priya and her children, completely excluding Sunjay’s biological children from his marriage to Karisma Kapoor, as well as his mother and sisters.

If the will is found to be invalid, the estate would be divided equally among all Class I heirs, which includes his mother and all his children.
