Sunny Deol Joins Ramayana Team: A Visual Spectacle Like Avatar

December 10, 2024: Sunny Deol Confirms Role in Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana: A Cinematic Masterpiece in the Making

Nitesh Tiwari’s ambitious two-part project, Ramayana, has been creating waves ever since its announcement. While speculation about the cast has been rife, confirmations have only started to trickle in. At a recent media event, actor Sunny Deol joined the conversation, officially confirming his involvement in the project.

Sunny Deol Joins Ramayana Team: A Visual Spectacle Like Avatar 2

Sunny Deol shared the stage with his brother Bobby Deol, who co-starred with Ranbir Kapoor in the 2023 blockbuster Animal. Speaking about Ramayana, Sunny revealed the monumental scale on which the magnum opus is being created. “Ramayana is a long project because they’re trying to make it like Avatar and Planet of the Apes. All those technicians are a part of it. The writer and director are very clear about how it has to look and how the characters should be presented.”

Sunny further highlighted the emphasis on immersive visual effects, saying, “You will see special effects that make you believe the events have genuinely happened rather than making them feel artificial. To be honest, I’m very sure it’s going to be great, and I’m sure that everybody will love it.”

Although rumours suggest Sunny will portray Lord Hanuman, the actor chose not to comment on his role.

This revelation has added to the growing excitement around Ramayana. Earlier, at the Red Sea Film Festival in Jeddah, Ranbir Kapoor confirmed that he is playing Lord Ram in the film and has already completed filming for the first part. Ranbir expressed his pride in being part of the project, saying, “It has two parts. I have finished the shooting of Part 1 and will shoot Part 2 soon. Just to be a part of that story, I am so humbled to essay Ram’s role. It’s a dream for me. It’s a film that has everything. It teaches what Indian culture is about—family dynamics and husband-wife dynamics.”

With Sunny Deol joining Ranbir Kapoor in this cinematic adaptation of the epic, Ramayana promises to be one of the most visually stunning and culturally rich films of the decade.
