April 18, 2025: A legal case has been filed under Section 299 BNS at the Sadar police station in Jalandhar against Bollywood actors Sunny Deol and Randeep Hooda, along with director Gopichand Malineni and producer Naveen Yerneni, following allegations of hurting religious sentiments.

The complaint arises from a scene in the recently released film Jaat, which allegedly features imagery resembling the crucifixion of Jesus Christ, an act that the complainant claims offends the Christian community.

The complaint requests the authorities to take appropriate action against the filmmakers, arguing that the controversial scene disrespects religious beliefs and could potentially stir communal tensions. The investigation into the matter is ongoing.

In the midst of the legal scrutiny, just one week after the film’s release, Sunny Deol announced the sequel titled Jaat 2. The actor shared the movie poster on Instagram, revealing that Gopichand Malineni would return as the director and the same production team would continue to back the project. While the full cast for Jaat 2 has not been disclosed, Deol’s return as the lead is confirmed.
