Sunny Deol’s Jaat Opens with ₹33.62 Lakh in Advance Booking; Faces Fierce Box Office Clash with Ajith’s Good Bad Ugly

Despite the post-Gadar 2 buzz, Sunny Deol’s action drama Jaat sees a slow Day 1 advance booking start, with Ajith Kumar’s Good Bad Ugly poised to dominate in key territories.

April 9, 2025: Sunny Deol’s latest action thriller Jaat has registered a modest start in its Day 1 advance bookings, earning ₹33.62 lakh across 1002 shows in India. With just two days left until its theatrical release on April 10, the film is yet to generate the momentum expected from a post-Gadar 2 release.

According to Sacnilk, while Jaat benefits from Deol’s massive fan base and the buzz of his cinematic comeback, the film has seen a relatively slow uptake in pre-release ticket sales. However, there’s still potential for a spike with last-minute bookings.

Ajith’s Good Bad Ugly Set to Be a Game-Changer

One major challenge for Jaat is the simultaneous release of Good Bad Ugly, featuring Tamil superstar Ajith Kumar. The film has garnered strong buzz, particularly in the South, and is expected to impact Jaat’s collections, especially in regions where the Telugu and Hindi markets intersect.

Ajith’s pan-India appeal may skew the box office battle in his favor, making it a crucial test for Jaat‘s commercial trajectory.

What Is Jaat About?

Directed by Gopichand Malineni, Jaat is a gritty action-packed drama where Sunny Deol plays a righteous man caught in a web of corruption and crime. Opposing him is Randeep Hooda as the formidable villain Varadaraja Ranatunga, in a performance expected to leave a lasting impact.

The ensemble cast includes Vineet Kumar Singh, Saiyami Kher, Regina Cassandra, and Jagapathi Babu, with Urvashi Rautela bringing glam with her item number “Touch Kiya”. The spiritual ballad “Oh Rama Shri Rama,” composed by S. Thaman, adds emotional resonance to the soundtrack.

The film is set for release in both Hindi and Telugu, broadening its reach across diverse audiences.

Can Jaat Ride the Gadar Wave?

Following the record-breaking success of Gadar 2 in 2023, Sunny Deol’s fans have high expectations. However, Jaat’s tepid advance numbers suggest a slow start unless word-of-mouth fuels post-release growth.

While Jaat may not ignite the box office instantly like Gadar 2, strong performances, music, and fan support could drive a turnaround in the days following its release.
