Superman Soars Past $600 Million at Global Box Office, Marking a Major Victory for James Gunn’s DC Studios
July 19, 2025: The latest Superman film, released on July 11, has officially crossed the $300 million mark at the worldwide box office, according to The Hollywood Reporter. This milestone includes a strong domestic haul of $177.7 million in the U.S., achieved in just over a week.
The DC Studios and Warner Bros. superhero epic has already outpaced Ezra Miller’s The Flash, which ended its theatrical run below the current Superman total. As per Box Office Mojo, Superman currently sits at approximately $271.4 million worldwide, a figure that continues to climb daily thanks to strong midweek performances and steady audience turnout.
While competition looms with new releases like I Know What You Did Last Summer and Smurfs — the latter featuring Rihanna in a vocal role — neither is projected to challenge Superman’s dominance. I Know What You Did Last Summer earned $2.2 million in Thursday previews, while Smurfs is struggling critically with a 20% Rotten Tomatoes score.
All eyes are now on whether Superman can surpass the total global earnings of Marvel’s Thunderbolts, which concluded its theatrical run earlier this year with a $383 million worldwide take.
James Gunn’s reimagining of Superman is clearly resonating with fans, setting the tone for DC’s cinematic future.
