Supreme Court Dismisses Jacqueline Fernandez’s Plea in Money Laundering Case

The Supreme Court of India has refused to provide any relief to actress Jacqueline Fernandez, dismissing her petition to quash the FIR against her in the ₹200-crore money laundering case. The court upheld the Delhi High Court’s order, stating that her intent and knowledge can only be examined during a trial.

The Supreme Court of India turned down actress Jacqueline Fernandez‘s request for help in the ₹200 crore money laundering case linked to conman Sukesh Chandrasekhar on Monday. This was a big blow for her. The Supreme Court’s decision backs up the Delhi High Court’s earlier order, which had refused to throw out the FIR against her.

Fernandez had sought the Supreme Court after the Delhi High Court dismissed her plea, stating that she was a victim of Sukesh’s targeted scam and had no awareness of his criminal conduct. Her appeal also said that any subsequent actions against her should be dropped because she was a witness for the prosecution in the original crime.

But the courts have always said that the actress’s intent and knowledge of the crime can only be looked at during a trial. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) said that Sukesh gave Jacqueline luxury goods and money worth about ₹7 crore, which came from the proceeds of crime. Jacqueline will now have to go to trial in a lower court since the Supreme Court threw out her case.
