Sushmita Sen’s remarkable return to acting with the OTT series ‘Aarya’ captured the audience’s attention with her dynamic performance. However, it’s interesting to note that she wasn’t the original choice for the role of Aarya Sareen.
Initially, the role was offered to Raveena Tandon, a National Award-winning actress and recent Padma Shri honoree. Raveena revealed in an interview with Hindustan Times that Ram Madhvani had approached her for ‘Aarya’, but she turned it down. She was looking for a project that would present her in a never-before-seen avatar, leading her to choose ‘Aranyak’ for her digital debut.
Raveena described herself as a ‘greedy actor’, always eager to take on exciting projects. Despite not joining ‘Aarya’, she expressed her desire to collaborate with Ram Madhvani in the future and explained her reasons for declining the offer, which he understood.
Raveena Tandon, known for her performance in ‘Daman: A Victim of Marital Violence’ which won her a National Award for Best Actress, is now awaiting the release of ‘Karmma Calling’. In this series, she portrays Indrani Kothari, a character vastly different from her real-life personality. ‘Karmma Calling’, directed by Ruchi Narain and also starring Namrata Sheth and Varun Sood, is set to stream on Disney+ Hotstar from January 26.
