Sydney Sweeney Reveals Shocking Twist for Cassie in Euphoria’s Upcoming Season

May 25, 2025: Euphoria fans, brace yourselves — things are about to get a whole lot more intense. Sydney Sweeney, who plays the emotionally volatile Cassie Howard in HBO’s hit teen drama, has teased that Season 3 will see her character go even further off the rails.

In a recent interview with Empire magazine, Sweeney described the upcoming season as “unhinged” and revealed that Cassie’s journey will reach new emotional extremes.

“She is crazy. She makes so many mistakes. She’s flawed on so many levels, but she does it all from a place of love,” said Sweeney. “It could be a sad version of love, as well. It’s so much fun to play a character that is as crazy as she is.”

The actress also praised showrunner Sam Levinson, calling him a “brilliant filmmaker” who’s always open to pushing boundaries. “I’ll read something, then I’ll call him, and I’m like, ‘Let’s go crazier.’ And he’s like, ‘I’m all in.’ And this season is unhinged.”

Season 3, which is expected to premiere in 2026, will reportedly feature a significant time jump, taking the characters out of high school and into adulthood. Zendaya, Hunter Schafer, Jacob Elordi, Alexa Demie, Maude Apatow, and Colman Domingo are all set to return. However, Algee Smith and Nika King will not be appearing, and Dominic Fike’s involvement remains unconfirmed.

Joining the cast are several new faces, including Martha Kelly, Chloe Cherry, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, and Toby Wallace. Celebrity guest stars like Sharon Stone, Rosalía, Marshawn Lynch, and Kadeem Hardison are also expected to appear.

Zendaya, who plays Rue Bennett, previously described filming Euphoria as “emotionally and physically draining” but ultimately rewarding. “Rue just falls into me… I still have my Rue scars,” she shared in a conversation with Nicole Kidman for Variety’s Actors on Actors.

Production for the third season is already underway in Los Angeles after a prolonged delay. The season is expected to be the final chapter of the acclaimed series.

As anticipation builds, one thing is clear — Euphoria Season 3 is poised to deliver its most intense, emotionally raw episodes yet.
