The ‘Euphoria’ star Sydney Sweeney says she wouldn’t say no to a role in a Barbie follow-up if the opportunity—and script—was right. She also teases a “wild ride” for Cassie in Season 3.

Sydney Sweeney, the rising star of Anyone But You and Euphoria, has expressed her admiration for Margot Robbie and her openness to potentially joining the cast of a Barbie sequel—if one ever gets made. In a recent interview with Bustle, Sweeney was asked about her interest in the world of Barbie, and while she was cautious, she made her fandom clear.

“I’d have to read a script, but I’m a huge, huge fan of Margot [Robbie], so I would not be opposed to it,” Sweeney said.

Her remarks come as fans continue to speculate about a possible sequel to the 2023 mega-hit Barbie, which grossed over $1.4 billion globally. While Warner Bros. has said they would “love” to develop a sequel, Margot Robbie, who produced and starred in the film, has been more hesitant.

“We didn’t build it to be a trilogy or something,” Robbie said in a 2023 interview with the Associated Press. “Greta [Gerwig] put everything into this movie, so I can’t imagine what would be next.”

Despite Robbie’s cautious comments, the idea of Sydney Sweeney joining the Barbie universe—particularly alongside Robbie—has already excited fans on social media.

On Returning to Euphoria

In the same conversation, Sweeney opened up about filming Season 3 of HBO’s Euphoria, which has finally gone back into production after a long delay due to strikes and scheduling conflicts.

“I’m so happy to be back. It feels like I’m with my OG family,” she said. “We’ve been doing this since I was 20 years old. There are many crew members who are still here from Season 1 and Season 2. It’s like a reunion.”

Asked about what fans can expect from her character Cassie, Sweeney didn’t give away much—but hinted at high drama.

“Goodness. I can say that it’s going to be a wild ride. I was definitely very shocked by the turns of Cassie’s life. I’m very excited for the entire show.”
