New Delhi, December 15: Legendary tabla virtuoso Ustad Zakir Hussain has been hospitalized in San Francisco due to serious health concerns, according to reports. While details about his condition remain undisclosed, updates on his health are awaited as he undergoes treatment.

The renowned musician, son of tabla legend Ustad Allah Rakha, is a global icon celebrated for his extraordinary contributions to Indian classical music. His recent accolades include three wins at the 66th Grammy Awards, where he clinched the award for ‘Best Global Music Performance’ for his work on Pashto.

Upcoming India Tour in Question

Earlier, Ustad Zakir Hussain, alongside celebrated artists Bela Fleck, Edgar Meyer, and Rakesh Chaurasia, announced the ‘As We Speak’ India tour scheduled for January 2025. The tour, featuring a unique fusion of musical genres, has generated significant anticipation among fans.

The multi-city event, organized by Perfect Harmony Productions in collaboration with Panache Media, was set to include performances in Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Mumbai, and New Delhi. Collectively, the artists have garnered 31 Grammy awards, including two for their 2023 album As We Speak.

However, Ustad Zakir Hussain’s hospitalization has cast uncertainty over the tour’s status, with fans hoping for his speedy recovery.
