Take A Look At Kate Hudson's Sports-Comedy Series 'Running Point' Trailer
January 31, 2025: Kate Hudson is set to take center stage in the upcoming sports-comedy series Running Point, which will premiere on February 27.
The trailer for the 10-episode series has been released, offering fans a glimpse of Hudson's character, Isla Gordon, who is thrust into a high-pressure job as the newly appointed president of the Los Angeles Waves basketball franchise.
In the series, Isla takes over the role after a scandal forces her brother, played by Justin Theroux, to step down. Isla must prove herself to her skeptical family, board members, and the sports community at large, all of whom question her qualifications. The trailer showcases Isla boldly declaring, "I work in a family business for the greatest basketball franchise in the history of the game, the Los Angeles Waves. And this is the story of the fucked-up family that runs it."
As she navigates the pressures of her new role, Isla faces doubts from critics who label her a "Nepo baby" with no real understanding of the business. Despite the obstacles, Isla is determined to take the Waves to the playoffs and succeed. The trailer also highlights a key moment where Brenda Strong’s character advises her, "On behalf of all women, don't ever make a mistake. Looks bad for all of us."
Running Point promises to offer a bold twist on the underdog comedy, and the cast includes Brenda Song, Drew Tarver, Scott MacArthur, Fabrizio Guido, Toby Sandeman, Chet Hanks, Jay Ellis, and Max Greenfield. The series is produced by Mindy Kaling's Kaling International in association with Warner Bros. Television.
Alongside Running Point, Kate Hudson will also be seen in Song Sung Blue, a musical drama directed by Craig Brewer for Focus Features. The film follows two struggling artists, played by Hudson and Hugh Jackman, who join a Neil Diamond tribute band to reignite their dreams and show that it's never too late to find love. The film, based on a true story, features a star-studded ensemble cast, including Michael Imperioli, Fisher Stevens, Jim Belushi, and more.
Fans can look forward to seeing Hudson shine in both Running Point and Song Sung Blue in the coming months.
