Take A Look At Shankar Mahadevan’s Soulful Performance At Mahakumbh

January 17, 2025: The ‘Sanskriti ka Sangam’ program, part of the grand Mahakumbh celebrations, continues to captivate devotees with its musical performances along the banks of the Ganga.

On Thursday evening, renowned singer Shankar Mahadevan kicked off the event with his soulful renditions, including the song “Chalo Kumbh Chalein,” which resonated with the audience. This musical extravaganza, organized by the Department of Culture at Mahakumbh, will feature more celebrated artists in the coming days, including Kailash Kher, Kavita Krishnamurthy, Hariharan, and others.

The event was inaugurated by Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya, who lit the ceremonial lamp to mark the start of the program. A Ganesh Vandana followed, filling the Ganga Pandal with its powerful melody. Mayor Ganesh Shankar Kesariwani, MLA Pooja Pal, and other public representatives were also present at the event.

Shankar Mahadevan expressed his gratitude for being part of such a sacred occasion and called it an honor to perform at Mahakumbh. He also thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for their efforts in organizing the grand event.

Singer Kailash Kher, who also performed at the 2013 Mahakumbh, is slated to perform at the closing ceremony of the Sanskriti Ka Sangam program. Ahead of his performance, Kher shared his thoughts on the importance of the festival, emphasizing its deep roots in Hindu mythology. “Mahakumbh is a historic festival. It represents the essence of Sanatan culture. I am extremely honored to perform for devotees at the Sangam soon,” he said. Kher also encouraged people to attend Mahakumbh, promising them a rich experience of Hindu culture.

Alongside Kailash Kher, other renowned artists like Hariharan and Kavita Krishnamurthy will also perform in the upcoming days.

The Mahakumbh, which began on January 13, serves as a magnificent platform for Indian art, culture, and spirituality, showcasing a range of folk music, classical dance, and theatrical performances. This spiritually enriching event will continue until February 26, with key bathing dates such as Mauni Amavasya (January 29), Basant Panchami (February 3), Maghi Purnima (February 12), and Maha Shivaratri (February 26).
