Tamannaah Bhatia Reacts to Deepika’s Viral Clip on Pay Gap: ‘Not Falling for Misogyny’

May 28, 2025: Deepika Padukone is at the center of a media storm following her reported removal from Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s upcoming film Spirit. Rumors suggest that the actress’ exit was prompted by a clash over work conditions — including a request for an 8-hour workday and a reported fee of over ₹20 crore.

Amid this controversy, a viral throwback video from a 2020 press conference for Chhapaak is gaining traction online. In the clip, Deepika — who not only starred in but also produced the film — responds sharply when someone hints that husband Ranveer Singh might have financially contributed to her project.

“Excuse me, yeh mere khud ke paise hain. Kisne bola yeh? Yeh meri khud ki mehnat hai,” Deepika asserts, making it clear she independently funds her productions.

The resurfaced video was posted two days ago on Instagram, and it caught the attention of actress Tamannaah Bhatia, who showed her support by liking the post. The video also featured on-screen text highlighting the challenges women face in the industry — including sexism, gender pay gaps, and double standards.

Meanwhile, actress Triptii Dimri has officially replaced Deepika in Spirit, opposite Prabhas. Triptii reportedly agreed to a fee of ₹4 crore, significantly lower than Deepika’s alleged demand. Dimri previously worked with Vanga in Animal, which contributed to her growing popularity.

While Deepika may no longer be a part of Spirit, fans can expect to see her next in Kalki 2898 AD (Part 2). The ambitious sci-fi sequel stars Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, and Prabhas, and is expected to go on floors soon — marking Deepika’s return to set post motherhood.
