Tanushree Dutta Shares Distressing Video, Alleges Years of Harassment at Home and Seeks Urgent Help
July 23, 2025: In a shocking and emotional revelation, Bollywood actress Tanushree Dutta has posted a tearful video on her Instagram handle, claiming she has been subjected to continuous harassment at her own home for the past four to five years. The actress, a pivotal figure in India’s #MeToo movement, disclosed that the situation escalated to the point where she was compelled to contact the police on Tuesday, and she is now publicly appealing for broader assistance.
In the distressing video, Dutta, visibly in tears and inconsolably distraught, detailed her ordeal. “Guys, I’m being harassed in my own home. I just called the cops. I got worried and called the police. The police came. They asked me to come to the police station to launch a proper complaint. I’m going to probably go tomorrow or the day after. I’m not well. I’ve been harassed so much in the last 4-5 years that my health has deteriorated,” she stated, her voice trembling.
The ‘Dhol’ actress further elaborated on the nature of the alleged harassment, claiming that unknown individuals have “planted maids” in her residence. These planted individuals, she alleges, have frequently stolen from her home, leading to significant financial losses and profound emotional distress. “I’m not able to do any work. My house is a mess. I can’t hire even maids because they planted maids in my house. I had such a bad experience with maids coming in and stealing and doing all kinds of things. I have to do all my work. People come outside my door. I’m being troubled in my own house. Please someone help me,” a desperate Tanushree added.
Accompanying the video, Dutta shared a caption on Instagram that underscored her desperation: “I’m sick and tired of this harassment!! It’s been going on since 2018 #metoo Aaj fed up hokar maine police ko call kiya. Please someone help me! Do something before it’s too late.” The hashtag #metoo directly references her past activism, suggesting a potential link between the alleged harassment and her earlier public stand.
This isn’t the first time Tanushree Dutta has made headlines for serious allegations. In 2018, she accused veteran actor Nana Patekar of misbehaving with her on the sets of a special song for their 2008 film ‘Horn Ok Pleasss’. Her brave allegations were instrumental in igniting India’s #MeToo movement, encouraging many other women to come forward with their own stories of harassment and assault in various industries. Nana Patekar has consistently denied all claims made against him. While a police probe in 2019 reportedly concluded with a “B-summary” report (a closure report) finding no incriminating evidence against Patekar, more recent reports from March 2025 indicate that a Mumbai court refused to accept this closure report, effectively keeping the case open and preventing its dismissal.
Tanushree Dutta, also known for her roles in popular films such as ‘Aashiq Banaya Aapne’ and ‘Bhagam Bhag’, has largely maintained a low profile since her 2018 revelations. Her current public plea for help underscores the severe and ongoing challenges she faces, which she directly attributes to the stress and repercussions of her #MeToo activism. She has previously spoken about dealing with persistent loud noises outside her residence since 2020 and suffering from chronic fatigue syndrome, linking her deteriorating health to prolonged periods of intense stress. The detailed nature of her current allegations points to a deeply distressing personal situation that has now reached a critical point, prompting her to seek police intervention and wider public support.
