Taylor Swift Unleashes 'Look What You Made Me Do (Taylor’s Version)' in The Handmaid’s Tale: A Perfect Sync for a Powerful Moment
May 20, 2025: Swifties finally got what they’ve been waiting for — a full-length track from Reputation (Taylor’s Version) made its official debut in dramatic fashion, thanks to Hulu’s The Handmaid’s Tale.
In episode nine of the dystopian series, Taylor Swift’s rerecorded version of “Look What You Made Me Do” plays at the start of a tense scene featuring the handmaids walking in unison, rallying behind June Osborne (Elisabeth Moss) in an uprising against Gilead’s brutal Commanders. The powerful moment is soundtracked by Swift’s defiant anthem, perfectly matching the show’s tone and themes of rebellion and resilience.

Elisabeth Moss, the series star and executive producer, revealed that she had long wanted to feature a Taylor Swift track in the show.“I’ve been wanting to use a Taylor song for many years on the show and we finally found the perfect spot… There could not be a more perfect song for a more perfect moment,” said Moss.
She added that both she and her castmates — including co-star Yvonne Strahovski — are devoted Swifties, making the musical moment especially meaningful.
Moss even attended Taylor’s Eras Tour stop in Toronto last year with fellow cast member Bradley Whitford, where they posed for a backstage photo with Mariska Hargitay, further proving her fan status.
This isn’t the first time “Look What You Made Me Do (Taylor’s Version)” has surfaced. Snippets were previously featured in Apple TV+’s docuseries The Dynasty: New England Patriots and Amazon Prime’s Wilderness teaser in 2023. However, this episode of The Handmaid’s Tale marks the first time fans heard the full rerecorded version in a major release.
Swift’s fans have eagerly awaited Reputation (Taylor’s Version) as part of her mission to reclaim her early music catalog. She has already released rerecorded editions of Fearless, Red, Speak Now, and 1989. Speculation about Reputation has swirled for months, with Swift dropping cryptic clues — including a snake necklace spotted during her appearance at the AFC Championship Game in support of boyfriend Travis Kelce of the Kansas City Chiefs.
With the unexpected release of “Look What You Made Me Do (Taylor’s Version)” in such a pivotal scene, it’s clear the Reputation era is edging closer — and Swift is once again proving that no one commands a moment like she does.
