Ted Lasso Season 4 in the Works: Fan Favorites Set to Return

Fans of the beloved Emmy-winning show Ted Lasso might be in for a pleasant surprise—season four appears to be on the horizon. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Warner Bros. Television has renewed the contracts of three key cast members from the show’s original three-season run, signaling plans for a continuation.

Hannah Waddingham, Brett Goldstein, and Jeremy Swift have been approached to reprise their iconic roles as Rebecca Walton, Roy Kent, and Leslie Higgins, respectively. This move strongly suggests that Ted Lasso will return for a fourth season, much to the delight of its dedicated fanbase.

After Ted Lasso‘s pre-planned three-season arc concluded in May 2023, the series finale left viewers with a sense of closure, but also with the possibility of more stories to tell. The cast themselves expressed uncertainty about the show’s future but hinted at their desire to continue sharing these characters’ journeys.

In the season three finale, the show’s main characters found themselves with satisfying conclusions—Ted Lasso (Jason Sudeikis) returned to Kansas to be with his son and ex-wife, Beard (Brendan Hunt) got married in Stonehenge, Rebecca (Hannah Waddingham) and Keeley (Juno Temple) planned to start a women’s team in Richmond, and Roy Kent (Brett Goldstein) took over as the manager of AFC Richmond while starting therapy. However, the door was left open for further developments.

Ted Lasso, developed by Jason Sudeikis, Bill Lawrence, Brendan Hunt, and Joe Kelly, is an American sports comedy-drama series that first aired on Apple TV+ in August 2020. The show, based on a character Sudeikis portrayed in NBC Sports promos, follows an American college football coach who is unexpectedly hired to manage an English soccer team. Despite the team’s owner hoping for failure, Ted’s optimistic and unconventional coaching style brings surprising success.

The first season launched with 10 episodes, followed by a second season of 12 episodes in July 2021. The third season premiered in March 2023, and now, with the potential for a fourth season, fans can look forward to even more heartwarming and hilarious moments from Richmond.
